A few years ago, I began to produce some scribbled copies of photos which, for whatever reason, seemed to 'speak' to me. But I got a bit too ambitious and burned myself out on one particular picture. And my family were blatantly 'damning my efforts with very faint praise'.

But I've just had another look at them, and I really quite like them. I'm thinking of posting them on here, but a couple of them show naked women's breasts. They are nothing more than child-like scribbles in pencil, coloured pencil, or wax crayon - what are the rules?

Honestly, I don't see anything that specifically states such drawings would not be allowed -- just videos and images that are "offensive" in nature. But of course, never underestimate the capacity for those who have Puritan sensibilities to be offended by images containing nudity -- even drawings.

If it is a man topless it is alright. So it should be alright for women too and to say otherwise is a heavy promotion of sexism. Post it if you want, there is nothing wrong with nudity in art, or in general.

I think topless women are okay as long as it's tasteful.

Thanks for the encouragement - I have been trying to work out how to load the image onto WrongPlanet. I scanned it as a jpeg image onto my Chromebook, and, so far, I haven't worked out how to upload it to WrongPlanet. Any suggestions?

Hi, you have to upload it to one of those places that store photos, then link to it from here.

Hey - I found out to do it...

This is my copy of an old sepia photograph which I bought in a charity shop. I have no idea where the photograph was taken, but I like to imagine that it is a picture of a crofter's cottage on the island of Foula, which is probably the remotest of the Scottish Northern Isles (Orkney & Shetland).

Quite a lot of years ago, I was lucky enough to spend a few weeks in the area on a sailing boat, and we wanted to visit Foula, but for various reasons we never got there. I had imagined that Foula was by now uninhabited, but not so - on the Wikipedia entry for Foula, there is an interesting article from the Guardian newspaper about modern life on Foula - it makes interesting reading, especially for Aspie-spotters!

I like that! But where are the naked breasts? Hang on, what are those up against the window? Let me get my magnifying glass.

Seriously, very nice work!

HaHa! I expected a few complaints like that...

Each of my childish scribbles reminds me of a story - when I get to the bare-breasted ones, I will probably keep some of the details private!

It has a beautiful dreamy quality to it. Was that in the photo or was that your artistic interpretation?

Hi - many thanks for your comment. The colour on here has come out a bit darker/richer than the actual drawing.

My own reaction to the photo was 'desolation', and it is interesting that you have chosen the word 'dreamy'. Living in such a place would be heaven for some, and a nightmare for others.

When I did the picture, I was in a very dark place - suicidal - and I thought the derelict dwelling, on an abandoned island, under a large black cloud, was a fair representation of my 'soul'.

But it turned out to be my favourite drawing, and it cheered me up no end. Hence the title 'SilverLining' (every cloud has a silver lining).

I haven't done any drawings for more than a year, and my total collection is no more than a dozen or so, but I'm beginning to get interested again. I'll post some more soon - have you done any drawings yourself?

I never would have gotten suicide from that, but when you mention it and I can see a bit. I'm glad you are feeling better!

I draw sometimes to illustrate my journals, but they are more cartoony. I took that class Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain and it really worked, for a while I was drawing very realistic looking chairs, etc. But that's not really my personality so am back to the more playful less realistic stuff.

OK - here's a taster! Both are drawings of ornaments on my shelf, except that BarrelBum has been now been shattered by her experiences with my grandchildren and is no longer on display. She was a seaside novelty, and the naked female form was the handle of the tankard.

YellowCar was originally part of my collection of teaching aids when I was a driving instructor - I tried to use it to demonstrate some of the essential techniques, but I'm not sure that I was successful...
