Does anyone else here play the accordion?

I just started learning from a teacher in school (So technically not lessons) in December and know a few songs.

Awww! I bought a student accordion in a junk shop many years ago and took a couple of lessons. Didn't get very far and the lessons were too expensive. I managed to pick out the melody to a couple of songs. I let a friend who can actually play borrow it and she took it with her when she moved, then had to pawn it. She bought me this crappy, broken-down button accordion to try to make up for it. There's a guy locally who repairs and is really into accordions and concertinas and other bellows instruments and he told me what I had was basically, "an accordion shaped object." :(

I have a fascination with musical instruments but can't play anything. :( I miss my accordion.

I don't play the accordian(I'm tone deaf), but I like music with accordian in it. My brother's wife is from Oaxaca, and they played the music from there at their wedding. Kind of weird to hear the music without the accordian in it. It didn't sound...right. Like it was missing something. It had no beat or something.

I play accordion as well. Sometimes it's fun, but most of the time it's hard work.

James Elroy wrote a novella called Dick Contino's Blues, in which Elroy got permission from his childhood idol, an accordion player named Dick Contino with cinema star looks who used to make low budget movies featuring his musical talent, till rock and roll drove him into obscurity. Elroy fictionalizes Contino as a borderline psychotic anti-hero in this fanciful crime story.

Played mine the other day for the first time in 18 months.

I just about remembered my football team's song so I played that. A bunch of folkies then asked for my "talents" for a morris dancing rehearsal but got a bit uppity when I told them I'd be at the game that night.

Who knows any rock bands that feature rockin' accordion solos (besides Weird Al and Kongos)?

I think this has an accordion solo, well more of an interlude, but I have trouble telling reed instruments apart

Look no further than Korpiklaani! In fact, I wouldn't say they just have accordion solos, they manage to (quite successful) layer the accordion over the other instruments.

I don't even drink and even I will admit this band is absolute cash.

I play the melodica, also a keyboard instrument, but you blow into it like a flute. Would like to try accordion someday.
