Does anyone like to visit modern art museums? I enjoy them a lot, especially colorful art and furniture-related designs.

Hi Kiki1256,

I'm an artist.
Not much into furniture-related design, but I love modern art,
contemporary art, abstract acrylic, mixed-media paintings, and
fine art photography of different kinds (mostly realism).

One of my paintings won Best of Show in an art gallery in a juried exhibition this year.
The painting sold even before opening reception night.
It's called "Serenity Storm."
Here's a photo I took of my painting:

Can you post an example of the kind of modern art you enjoy,
one of your favorites?

Yes, I've been to New Britain Museum of American Art many times.

I have a love-hate relationship with museums. I would love to go to them if I could be alone in there.
I have to restrict my museum visits to only the particularly exciting exhibitions, because it's as if other people's presence is amplified in that setting, so it's extremely exhausting for me to be there.

That awkward moment when you're looking at a piece of art and some stranger puts themselves right beside you to look at the same thing. That, to me, is the highest level of personal space-invasion.

I have often been to museums when there are few visitors. I once visited a fly fishing museum in Vermont and didn't see anyone yet the door was open. 8O 8O
It helps to get there when they first open. Weekdays are better, but you need to check that they are open. Many tourist attractions are closed on Mondays in the USA.

I always try to come at times when there are few visitors, but I never seem to succeed. I think it's just this town that's so full of tourists it's always rush hour.
And the museums are pretty great, I get why they're crowded.

I have to say, I've been to modern art museums all over Holland, as well as in Brussels, Paris, London and Munich, and I was very impressed. Art is definitely a lot edgier here than it is Stateside.

Do you have months in which the weather is worse? Bad weather often keeps the tourists away.

April - June, and September - October are the best months weather wise and crowd wise. The tulips here are in full bloom mid-April to mid-day. Don't come in August, way too hot and the crowds are insane.

Even in Rotterdam? I thought it was rare for it to go over 25 Celsius there--even in August.

In the southern United States, over 30 Celsius highs are common from about May to early October.

It often gets above 30C in the middle of summer. Before global warming took over, it rarely got above 25C, so no private residences here have air conditioning. Now, a lot of people are thinking air conditioning might be needed for the first time.

That's interesting.....

Indeed, people should become more "forward-thinking," and get air-conditioning.

Except that it worsens global warming. Vicious cycle.

That’s really pretty! Love the colors. I don’t really like posting pictures, but I like art similar to the kind at the Cincinnati Modern Art Museum...very eccentric and colorful.
