The first moment I heard the Robin Thicke hit last year I thought it sounded a little too much like the Marvin Gaye classic. So I am not surprised that the jury ruled that he had crossed the blurred lines of originality, and that he would have to give it up (the royalties that is).

But even if it is originality-impaired Blurred Lines is a cool party song.

This is a bit off-topic, but why does there have to be a clean version? I'd guess most people would want to hear the original version. Often they just remove the words so you are listening to half a song.

You can see the "unclean" version(lyrics and video) on you tube if you wish. The song is controversial for a number of reasons but that "unclean" stuff to me is irrelevant to the main idea of the post which is to compare the two songs

Pharrell Williams has no musical talent. One "hit" song and he gets invited to be a judge and coach on "The Voice". Only shows you how shallow and simplistic music has gotten in the past 20 years. I'm glad they were sued. Pharrell should have been busted on "Happy" too, because there was/is NOTHING original about that song. Pharrell even takes fashion hints from "The man in the yellow hat" (Curious George)

Music is dead.

I understand why you posted the clean version here, because the uncensored version would likely be against the WP forum rules. But I find strange that the creators are even making uncensored versions of it. I don't get why people who listen to such music would be offended, I mean they know it is often part of the style. It wasn't meant as a comment against you, just something I find strange about society in general.

Pharrell Williams has been successfully selling records for nearly 15 years before that. It's not really my type of music but I do believe he has talent.

There are similarities but not enough for a 7million dollar payment in my opinion.

It is more like Battlestar Galactica compared to Star Wars.

Similar, not as good as the original, but nothing to sue over.

Supposedly it's to prevent children from hearing material they are not ready for, but I am pretty sure kids today will figure it out.
