I got the idea when my mama and I watched a documentary on all the fabric waste the west produces, coupled with the fact that I have always had difficulties sleeping without weight on me

I'm only just over half done and this thing is HEAVY. I've made it by shredding clothes that are past the point of donation into a long soingle ball of yarn and knitting them together with jumbo needles. An unexpected plus is that it's really nice to stim with because of the knit texture, as well as the strecht created by the knit

I'm expecting it to be at least 12 lbs when I'm done just from the knit alone. I'm thinking I may weave in some fishing weights for extra lbs and sew a fleece blanket to the underside

I'm just kind of proud

I'm happy for you and your blankie. Are you able to post a picture of your handiwork?

I always thought that I wanted a weighted blankie, but I never got around to buying or making one. However, after the adoption of my second litter of rescue kittens, I no longer need a weighted blankie, as I have several cats holding me down all night! And, yes, I made sure to spay and neuter all of the cats, because a weighted feline blankie can only weigh so much before it becomes a burial shroud... 8O :skull:
