A poem by TW1ZTY :study:

Blue Skies and Evergreen Trees
A brave eagle spreads its proud wings

A fearless face adorned by a white crown
The King of the Sky is victory-bound

It leaves his nest bathed in blood and tears
The winged king thinks that nothing can be feared

But tragedy is the fate of all mighty kings,
and the flying king will one day lose his throne.

An arrow through the right wing
A bullet through the left wing
As the kingdom of dreams comes crashing down.

And as he weeps, and as he weeps
The other beasts come to him not to mourn

And as they feast, and as they feast
The King of the Sky reigns no more

Food for thought! Thanks for sharing this.

I once read a poem somewhere (not on WP) about the death of a Triceratops. Wish I could locate it again as it too related the death of a once great creature, though it's death was from old age and natural causes in the poem.

I once wrote a poem in high school a long time ago that my teacher really liked and he entered it in a contest of some sort. So I decided to try writing another poem.

I'm glad you guys liked it. :D
