I'm trying to complete a novel but i'm uncertain how to properly convey the romance parts and make them seem real. Could someone help out? Thanks.

I'd be willing to take a stab. While I don't go out of my way to read the romance genre, I read a lot and many books do have some romance subplot.

Well, here's some guidelines I came up with for writing in general:
There is a difference between having a sympathetic backstory and actually being sympathetic.
Make sure that two people in love always bring out good things in each other. Also, when you love someone, it’s not just because you love them, but you also like and love who you are when you are with them. Characterization is probably the most important thing about a story because really everything in a story has characterization.
Maybe I'm not that great at writing romance because I've never been in a romantic relationship.
