I recently got a self-help book with "(c) 2016" on one of the first few pages. It sort of reminded me of a history book I had to use in high school; the copyright date seemed to be for the following year. Why do some book publishers do that?

Edit: This webpage explains it all: http://rhollick.wordpress.com/2012/04/08/copyright-date/ Does anyone else still think that's bogus?
