Listen to alot of kinds of music.

But not really abreast of all of these new fangled subgenres of metal.

But am a big of fan of Zeppelin.

The roots of "folk metal", and of "Viking metal" can both be found in Led Zeppilin. As well as of "jazz metal".

I do

I like local bands, Minos and Obsequiae.

-More bands I like from the top of my head are; Empyrium, Ulver, Hammers Of Misfortune (the former three played forms of folk metal early in their career), Sorgsvart, Windir, Mithotyn, Ensiferum, Equilibrium and Týr.

And of course... there is Agalloch, but I am kind of burned out of that band at the moment.

Arkona, Eluveitie and Leaves' Eyes are three bands that I like for this genre of metal.

Folk and Viking metal are probably my favorite sub genres of metal.

That is more the roots of metal in general, of course Zeppelin wasn't the only early influence and you forgot the blues which also paved the way for metal....

Folk metal is specifically metal incorporated with folk music usually of the Scandinavian sort. Then viking metal can either be folk metal or fall into different types so long as it's viking themed so it is a bit more vague as far as sound goes.

Good bands mentioned so far....and some I don't think I have heard at least not very much I'll have to check out.

I really like Ensiferum, Tyr, Alestorm(I think it is fair to call them pirate metal) as well as Korpiklanni, Finntroll, Amon Amarth, Turasis and Svartsot.....there are likely others but those are the ones that come to mind right now.

I like the band Enslaved

Other than that, there is not so much interesting going on.

Post 90s viking metal lost its radical elements and became very Americanized. Bland, homogenized and sounds like any other prog band now with slick production and catchy anthems.

I thought Enslaved was more black metal, either way definitely a good one.

I like Irish folk rock. Metal is a little too monotone for me, in general. I do very much enjoy the theme song from the History Channel's "Vikings" series, though. I think that would qualify as metal.

My favorite Folk mixed with black metal band is Finntroll. My favorite song by Finntroll is Drap.

I like to listen to finntroll once in a while, but I just prefer Nordic folk without the metal most of the time.

I have never heard any racist folk metal, but have heard racist punk(of course that does not sit well with most punks) and maybe one supposed black metal band...but of course that is a theme I'd certainly avoid.
