This is something I just typed up. It's about what I think of the Final Fantasy series. Most the information might not be correct, but that doesn't matter as it's my insight into the world of Final Fantasy. It might take awhile to read, as it's choc full of my insights on Final Fantasy and Final Fantasy X. Final Fantasy X-2 should be done soon.

The Final Fantasy series amazes me, with all the interesting characters and stories. There are so many references to Western fantasy elements, such as dragons and elves. The games themselves are RPGs (Role-Playing Games) where you play as a character that levels up and fights evil. Most Final Fantasy characters have distinguishing features such as; spiky hair, like that of Cloud Strife from Final Fantasy VII and Squall Leonheart's distinctive 'gun-blade' from Final Fantasy VIII. Some enemies are also distinguished from other games for their hair, such as Sephiroth from Final Fantasy VII.

Final Fantasy, the first game in the series was easily to tell apart from its interesting sprites and story-line. The graphics were simple, as the game was on the NES (Nintendo Entertainment System.) Although the graphics were simple, they were also distinctive. The main classes/jobs in Final Fantasy were;
Red Mage; a made able to cast both simple Black and White magic spells.
White Mage; a weak yet useful mage which cannot attack but can use healing magic.
Black Mage; a mage able to cast powerful Black magic spells with harmful effects.
Fighter; a young warrior which fights with swords and other weapons.
Black Belt; a warrior who fights with Martial Arts.
Thief; a warrior who fights with small knives and is able to steal items from enemies.

Final Fantasy X, the tenth game in the Final Fantasy series chronicles the lives of Tidus; a young Blitzball player and Yuna; a Summoner on her pilgrimage. The game is set in the land of Spira, which was nearly destroyed one thousand years ago by Sin. Sin has returned, and the only one who can stop it is Yuna, daughter of High Summoner Braska. On her pilgrimage to find the Aeons, she meets a young man named Tidus who claims to be from Zanarkand. But the thing is, Zanarkand was destroyed one thousand years ago! The final Aeon is the only way Sin can be defeated, but a sacrifice must be made…

On their journey through Spira, they meet some strange characters. There’s the Bliztball player, Wakka who uses a Blitzball as a weapon in battle! Lulu, the gothic woman has a moogle doll that comes to life and attacks enemies. She’s also a Black Mage, and able to use some powerful spells. Rikku, the Al Bhed(more on Al Bhed later) girl that is also a Thief and fights using her weapons known as ‘God Hands.’ Auron, one of Braska’s guardians becomes one of Yuna’s guardians further into the game. He’s a powerful warrior, wielding a Samurai sword. Kimarhi Ronso, the large blue lion-like beast also becomes another of Yuna’s guardians. He’s a Dragoon/Lancer meaning he can jump on enemies with a lance.

My favourite Final Fantasy is Final Fantasty 7, the first one I ever saw. Watching my cousin play it was so fun, and the movie is awesome.

Here's some more...

Final Fantasy X-2, is the direct sequel to Final Fantasy X. Set two years after the events of X, Yuna has left her home island of Besaid and has set out to find him. Before her journey even begins, she meets up with Rikku, Buddy, Shinra and Brother. She also meets Paine, a new character in the game. Yuna, Rikku and Paine soon become the Gullwings; a group of sphere hunters.

The game is set into missions, making it a completely different experience than Final Fantasy X offered to players.

Final Fantasy Tactics is the greatest FF game of all.

I haven't played it. Plus, no one would sell it here.

Then you have yet to see what all Final Fantasy games are measured to, FFT is the commonly considered the high water mark of FF quality.

It doesn't interest me as much as much as XII would.

I've been playing these games since for as long as I can remember.

Really, Final Fantasy (Dragon Warrior too really) set the bar for every other RPG. In fact, when people think of RPG, something else probably doesn't even come into their mind. Or at least that's what it was like for a long time (games like Fallout had more in common with the table top origins of these games, and have a stronger 'roleplaying' element as you are given the option to make choices, which affect the gameplay)

Final Fantasy 7 seemed like the best of the bunch really. After that, it seemed like all the innovation just kind of died. It's strange. The games had good graphics and stories by in large, but they just didn't seem that great. Their was no real innovation.

I've heard good things about 12 though.

My favorite was FF6.(FF3 SNES USA.) For some reason, Kefka is my favorite villian.(As one can see by my avatar. ^^*) and there are scenes in it that are quite funny. (Locke-based mostly. And Gau and Cyan with the whole "Mr. Thou!" thing. XD)
You must play it sometime if you haven't. I think it is getting a re-lease out for either GBA or DS soon...

FF 6 is my favourite too. Kefka is the best villlain ever :). It´s not even hard to find, there´s a remake for GBA and PS1. If you can choose, play the GBA one, it has an extra dungeon and a few other extras.

FF7 Has an excellent materia system which is propably the most flexible in the series. But I´m really annoyed by the terrible doll-like characters in the field scenes. If you can stand the terrible graphics, it´s one of the best games ever made.

FF tactics is really different compared to the other FF´s. It´s battle system reminds me more of Tactics ogre games than the ATB system FF´s. It´s a good game, but you really need to think about your strategy in battles so it´s not for the impatient people.

No one sells GBA games here, so I can't get FFVI.
