Trance LP / album recommendations plz

Hi

I'm not much aware of trance music. I'm aware of drum 'n' bass and have been involved with this for a few years.

So I ask to those that know:

What is a good trance LP / cd-album?

Preferences: As for freshness, I don't care when it was made - any year - don't mind if it's old. Also my background is music, not dance & I like "moody" music (I can't listen to top-40 stations because it's too gleamy & happy), but I don't mind if it's happy - just that the music contains feeling is what I mean.. hard to put to words

i don't know if you'd consider these trance or perhaps dance/techno? i don't know their classifications, but I LOVE all of these:

Basement Jaxx: Rooty
Basement Jaxx: Crazy Itch Radio
Chemical Brothers: Push the button
Chemical Brothers: Dig your own hole
Fatboy Slim: You've come a long way, baby

The fatboy slim has one song on it that may be offensive to some..

Actually I've been listening to that one all day so far.

Armin van Buuren plays a 2 hour webcast (i think thats the right word) every week, called A State Of Trance.
You can get hold of these on most torrent sites.
Some good trance on these sets, check out the setlist for the ones you like best.
In my opinion, albums are not really a good format for this genre. I mean i can't think of one in particular, and as for compilations; may as well listen to van Buurens for free.

WOW - COOL

Havent listened to any of the stuff for years...

shpongle, entheogenic and possibly medicine drum for mellow/ambient psy-trance.

The 1st 3 infected mushroom albums were groundbreaking for original prog/psy trance - very moody and dark in places. Astral projection, Hallucinogen, The Infinity Project also stood out as being consistently good. Theres endless compilations with psychedelic/goa in the title. Goa-Gil released some good energetic sets.

you might want to check this site out for tons of samples, its a great way to get a feel for some of the different sub-genres.

Taucher - HIgh Tide / Low Tide

If your looking for progressive trance in specific I doubt you'll find these in stores but they're still well worth chasing down on soulseek, mute, or whatever you may use.
