Has anybody read the book "Mockingbird?" It's centered on a girl with Asperger's. Any fans/readers?

Yes, I've read it and I liked it, though there were some things about the portrayal I didn't agree with.

I've read it, and I even have a copy on my bookshelf.
What didn't you agree with, AP? *curious*

It just kind of seemed sometimes like the author was trying to give the girl every single trait of Asperger's and make her Asperger's apparent in every situation, which isn't really realistic. But it's still a really good book.

It is a great book, but there are lessons behind it. It teaches us about empathy and express one's self.

I have a copy; I have read it several times. It was the first positive portrayal of an ASD character I read. I hold it rather dear.

And I still chuckle over "quarter-cut oak."

^That part made me laugh, too. :) One time when my mum's friend was driving us back from Karate, she said something along the lines of 'So, is there a time when you would leave the dojo [school]?' I replied that we just did.

I have a rather beat-up copy, I used to carry it in my backpack all the time at school. And yet I only actually read it once. I think its my copy iself thats so sentimental.
