My favourite song from The Cure is "Inbetween Days". The 80s were a musical haze, but this song is just so resilient.

I'm suprised. However I did see a member of machine Head wearing a Cure T-shirt.
I like Charlotte Sometimes aswell. I find it hard to decide what my favourite is as i'm such a huge fan, it just changes.
I'll settle for Pictures Of You... However it could be Siamese Twins or The Walk remix on mixed-up.

Ah great minds think alike, although that song is perhaps the only good one on the album 'Faith'

The remixes on mixed-up I think are much better. The remix of Fancination Street is quite anthemic.

Favorite songs:

In Between Days
The Blood
Boys Don't Cry
Killing An Arab
At Night
All Cats Are Grey
3
Play For Today

Favorite albums
Boys Don't Cry
17 Seconds
Faith
The Head on the Door

Obviously I prefer early Cure to later and I haven't listened to anything they've done in the last 10 years. Not 'cause I think I won't like it or don't like it, but I can't seem to find a station in CA that plays much of their stuff and I haven't been buying a lot of new music lately.

Lullaby, Lovesong, The Blood, and Burn are all great songs.

Nine Inch Nails, Siouxsie and the Banshees, The Smiths, Skinny Puppy, Bauhaus, and The Sisters of Mercy would like to have a word with you there.

I personally think it is "Kiss Me, Kiss Me, Kiss, Me" which was released in 1987. I have concluded that it is The Cure at their most elegant and eclectic.
However critically, "Distergration" has been hailed as their definitive work, though considering you want an introduction I'd go for the former as it contains seventeen tracks and each one differs largely in sound.
