When deciding what to listen to, do you decide primarily how you are feeling and decide to listen to music accordingly.

Or do you choose music to change how you are feeling? There are songs you run to that pick you up and make you glad.

I primarily have a state of mind; find music which fits. I don't largely change how I am feeling from the music I am listening to.

then, when i get the urge to listen to music again, i just flip through my big cd binder and pull out whatever looks interesting (usually the complete works of some artist whose song i got stuck in my head) and put it in a little cd wallet that i keep in my backpack. i listen to one cd whenever i feel like listening to music until i get bored with it and then switch it out. when i'm sick of everything i put them all back and don't listen to anything for awhile, then repeat the process.

i want an ipod.

For me, music and mood are completely independent of each other.

For me it can be a bit of both - or sometimes I just want some background sound, regardless of my mood.

My choices of what to play and when to play it can be pretty variable.

Whatever I'm in the mood for.

I'm pretty much same as them, I do a little bit of both but sometimes I get hooked on something.... Like for awhile it was anything that had organs in it. (I<3 Toccata en fugue in D minor) :D

Usually to suit my mood or deepen my mood. It kinda helps articulate a lot of what I feel, not so much even worth words as much as energy. A lot of times too I find music that goes even a bit farther or takes that mood I already have on a more interesting path.

It depends...

Most of the time it's to suit my mood.

Other times it's to change my mood.
