In the tradition of the punk and metal threads, post alt/indie songs you like and discuss.

Hopefully these aren't too mainstream, but I tend to like:

Barenaked Ladies
The Flaming Lips
The Might Be Giants
Devo

Just to name a few.

Devo is quality

In terms of indie rock, I like stuff like this.

I love Jellyfish, only 2 albums but such strange musical landscapes and a drummer who stands.

I'd classify Jellyfish more as power-pop (but then again, "alternative/indie" is such a broad umbrella term), but yes, they and Andy Sturmer were outstanding. 'Spilt Milk' is one of the best produced albums I've ever heard.

I would definitely consider Jellyfish, and most power pop, actually, as alternative or indie rock. Teenage Fanclub, for example, are a major power pop group, but they're also one of the most significant indie groups of their era. As you mention, alternative and indie are very broad terms with tons and tons of subgenres that fit into them.

Hüsker Dü is one of the greatest bands of all time IMO - the third video in the OP is actually of the band the drummer, Grant Hart, started after they broke up!

Psychocandy by the JAMC has been one of my favorite albums since I was a teenager.

Lush is awesome too

Here's a famous alternative band with an Aspie frontman going wild in a gloriously Aspie way... people who don't get it seem a bit critical of it, but to me it's beautiful and awesome:
Like an Aspie Iggy Pop
