I haven't actually played Warhammer but I've bought a couple of the books (Hordes of Chaos and Liber Chaotica) simply because I love the artwork and the lore of the Warhammer world. I probably will start buying some miniatures and start building an army someday. It looks like so much fun. I could easily see it becoming an obsession!

This might get more eyes on it in the Games subforum but I suppose the miniature painting falls under the Art category.

I played it for a couple of years, but stopped about three years ago. I think I don't have the patience for this game, though I think it's a brilliant game. I collected the Dwarves, and had a pretty big army. It was almost fully shooty-army, but for some Ironbreakers and a Warriors-regiment. Sometimes I put in some Slayers, just for the fun, against Elves they all died within the first two or three turns  I hate the elves, far too good. Especially against the greenlings. I collected Orcs&Goblins also, but they're not fun enough. I mean, they look nice and so, but my giant died before he could do jump-up-and-done etc, so that sucked. And also the Vampire Count are far too good for them, weaklings. And I hated their Animosity so I stopped and collected the Dwarves that are much, much cooler.

Warhammer can't ever look odd enough. Some other warhammer-player I know had a bananas-orc, a pyjamas-orc and much more
I've never actually been into 40k. I heared the rules on armour and found they were so ridiculous I'd never start it  btw I love fantasy

Hmmm I suddenly yet again feel I should play it again :)

Same here
I played with familymembers and once in a while with friends, but they were far better.

If you get a chance (and have a camera) could you post pictures of some of your painted minis? It would be fun to see.

I never had the money, Warhammer was always outragously expensive (£20 for a box of plastic!? £40 for a rulebook!?), plus painting is no fun when you have a hand-brain coordination problem. However, now with the new Dawn of War RTS game, you can build a massive army for a faction of the price and none of the paint!

There's also the Warhammer: Mark of Chaos RTS game which looks pretty good and seems to allow a lot of customization of your armies (visually and otherwise). I keep getting tempted to buy that, though I don't usually play RTS games these days.
