Music as a profession

Hello everyone! If you couldn't already tell from my bio page, I am a huge music fanatic (mainly old rock and metal) and have been playing music since I was about 5 years old. I've recently put together a band that shares the same goal as me which is to play music as a full-time profession. What I'm curious about is are there any people here who share the same goal or are there people who have succeeded in that goal, and if so, how did you manage to achieve that goal? Any reply would be greatly appreciated!

(Also, if you want to talk about music, don't hesitate to start typing away!)
