Just saw that JG Ballard has died. One of the more original and challenging authors out there, loved the way he would externalise psychology by fusing it with his landscapes.

The Drowned World is one of my favorites. Also, only author to write a book I cannot read. Never got more than half way through The Atrocity Exhibition, it messes with my mind so much.

He has my respects.

J.G. Ballard was one of my favourite authors. I recommend "Concrete Island" and "Running Wild" for readers who haven't read him yet - they are his two most accessible (and short) novels.

Also, "The Sudden Afternoon" is one of the most original and unsettling horror stories I've read.

I don't think you can say he was an aspie, but the psychology of the man was very strange. I enjoyed Empire of the Sun a lot, it made a great movie too.

Incidentally, I first encountered the term "Asperger's syndrome" [sic] in his 2003 novel "Millennium People". I looked it up on the Web, and it ultimately led to me posting here...

I've only read 'Crash.' It was bemusingly brilliant.
