Welcome to the Hall of Fame, Def Leppard

Quote:
Here's the full Class of 2019:

The Cure
Def Leppard
Janet Jackson
Stevie Nicks
Radiohead
Roxy Music
The Zombies

This commentary is not about non-rock acts getting in we are way past being able to do anything about that, it is what it is.
It would take too much of my time to list every band that deserves to be in.

Definitely deserving
Roxy music pioneered a lot of glam and what became "New wave"
Def Leppard proved hard rock/metal could be a commercial and critical success in the video era
The Cure. A big part of goth, new wave and post-punk although but Bauhaus and especially Siouxsie and the Banshees are the "goth" acts that deserved to go first and Joy Division should have gone in before any other post-punk act.

Radiohead. Not in love with them but they are a very talented bunch. An argument can be made that under the guise of alternative they brought progressive rock into the 21st century.

Really talented but not HOF worthy Janet Jackson, Stevie Nicks. Jackson gets props for a steady and quality and lengthy career. Nicks created an archetype. I enjoy listening to the Zombies but I just do not see them as HOF material

I most wanted Rage Against the Machine, Roxy Music, and MC5. Since you could vote for 5, I also voted for Radiohead and The Zombies.

Nice to see Roxy Music get recognition, I'll look forward to their segment. Otherwise, oh well... no accounting for taste, I guess.

And somehow Thin Lizzy isn't in the rnrhof. I would put them in over Stevie Nicks' solo career.

I wonder why Radiohead would be inducted but I don't believe seminal bands before them like Joy Division or New Order aren't.

Janet Jackson? Stevie Nicks? Where are Judas Priest and Iron Maiden?

Sorry, but the Rock Hall of Fame has become a big joke.

To be honest with y'all, Stevie Nicks deserved it.

It's never been a Rock Hall of Fame as in exclusively inducting artists that make rock music.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame is open to all recording artists that make popular music; it's open to soul, R&B, funk, country, jazz, blues, dance, electronic, and hip hop artists as well. Not just rock/rockabilly/bluesrock/hardrock/heavy metal etc.

...Ron Dante!
Tony Rivers, too.!
Hell, Johnny Rivers!
Lesley Gore!
Bluntly, I think Joy Division/New Order were not big-charting sellers of albums in America and Radiohead were.
