So, in your opinions, which bands had their best album be their debut album?

Some I can think of
The Doors- LA Woman would be in 2nd place
Black Sabbath- Sabbath Bloody Sabbath would be in 2nd place
Motley Crue
Boston?? -I know it was one of the best selling debut albums of all time, but I like "Don't Look Back" just as much if not better

A couple come to mind-

Stone Temple Piolets-Core

The Cars-Self titled 1978 album

Pearl Jam-Ten

Matchbox 20-Yourself or someone like you

NIN-Pretty Hate machine

Forgot about Pearl Jam. Haven't listened to much of their later music but I doubt it could best TEN.

The Piper at the Gates of Dawn by Pink Floyd was great also, probably not on the level of Wish You Were Here or Animals, but they were almost two different groups-pre Dark side and post Dark Side.

I guess since Blind Faith only had one album it would have to qualify. Good thing it is a great album!

The first Black Sabbath album wasn't "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath". It was a self-titled album.

self titled by gorillaz and fgwsss by mindless self indulgence
first of all, gorillaz's self titled has that *feel* to it that none of the other albums had, maybe it's dan the automator's involvement? also, damon did the "2D voice" in this album, but not any of the others, which is why people associate damon's regular singing voice with 2D's singing voice (this is evident when comparing 2D's voice in G-Bitez compared to damon albarn's regular speaking voice)
and msi's debut album? i like how it's alphabetically sorted, and the lyrics are clever, and the little "intermissions" (the songs that are a few seconds and the names r literally one letter) and you wanna know how they got the name? jaime wrote "the frankenstein girls will seem strangely sexy" in the notes for the album cover, and jimmy was like "hey, that's bomb, can i use that for the album's name?" and jaime was like "it's your album, do what you want"

Yes, guess I wasn't clear in my post. I consider their self titled album (their debut one) to be there Best. I was trying to indicate that I thought Sabbath Bloody Sabbath was my 2nd most favorite of them. RE the debut album, any album with NIB, Behind the Wall of Sleep and Warning has to be tops, and to think they recorded that whole thing in 1 day!

I'm pretty sure that Mindless Self-Indulgence and Tight were released before Frankenstein Girls.

As great as Led Zeppelin I was, it is hard to put it above Physical Graffiti.

George Harrison - All Things Must Pass. Wonderwall Music had some good things on it but ATMP beat it by miles. He poured out all those songs that John and Paul didn't have room for when he was in the Beatles.
