I've long been an occasional drummer (bass is my main instrument) - I used to have an acoustic kit, but switched to an electronic one for the sake of neighbours. I also have a few friends who get together for impromptu musical gatherings, and between them, they have a great selection of hand drums (though I couldn't begin to name them all). The bodhran is my favourite to play, though I wouldn't pretend to be particularly good at it. I also had a few lessons long ago at playing the tablas - there's a big South Asian community here, so such drum groups are a common, and I find very enjoyable, part of local festivals. I've also had quite a bit of fun making my own percussion out of junk, and quite often use them to add a bit of life to music based around drum machines or loops.

I find drumming to be therapeutic and good for my soul
Indeed - I find that's true whatever instrument I'm playing. I haven't written a song or played a gig for many years, but I would never give up playing for my own well-being.
