I have a small hand drum (sort of a mini djembe) and a couple other percussion instruments and like to get to drum circles when I can, especially when the weather is good and we can drum outside.

i am a percussionist.

here is a drum kit and djembe instrumental i recorded for a friend to do some guitar over. your welcome to do anything over it too/drum along.

i find drumming to be therapeutic and good for my soul, especially when im angry or need to release nervous tension. i hope to become a percussion/music therapist in the future. :D

No, but there's a full drum kit in my house as well as bongos, xylophones and timpani. My nephew's in a band and they meet / record here. I actually love when he's playing drums! It's a good outlet for me, even as a listener when I'm having a tough day.

I've long been an occasional drummer (bass is my main instrument) - I used to have an acoustic kit, but switched to an electronic one for the sake of neighbours. I also have a few friends who get together for impromptu musical gatherings, and between them, they have a great selection of hand drums (though I couldn't begin to name them all). The bodhran is my favourite to play, though I wouldn't pretend to be particularly good at it. I also had a few lessons long ago at playing the tablas - there's a big South Asian community here, so such drum groups are a common, and I find very enjoyable, part of local festivals. I've also had quite a bit of fun making my own percussion out of junk, and quite often use them to add a bit of life to music based around drum machines or loops.

Indeed - I find that's true whatever instrument I'm playing. I haven't written a song or played a gig for many years, but I would never give up playing for my own well-being.
