Won't go to Glastonbury because of mud, showers and toilets

I've never actually been to a festival at Glastonbury and I don't know if I would like it there for two or three days especially depending of what the weather is like, like getting muddy, having a shower and using the loos around lots of other people I don't know despite doing those things when I went camping in the past. I've only been to concerts where we went for one day or night such as in Hyde Park and at Rochester Castle in Kent with my dad and other members of family but I haven't been on my own to gigs or had anyone else I know of, go with me who is interested in going or likes the music I like.

I still feel like I miss out watching bands perform live and I love music just as anyone else does but I still don't go to gig as they always seem to be performing in places much further away from I live, perhaps in the north or west of the country and even though I can drive a car, I won't drive there even though there is google maps, a Sat Nav etc as I don't know the routes very well or have never been on those routes and worry. If I lived next to the O2, Hyde Park, Wembley Stadium etc then it would be great but I live rather far away from those places.

Yes, festivals aren't for everyone. You need a certain tolerance for being dirty (not showering for a few days), and be able to handle pretty disgusting toilets.

And if you're autistic you need to be aware that the noise never stops, there might not be the option to get away from people, it's a full-on sensory assault for days.

That said, I used to love Glastonbury. I've been 10 times. The weather can be unpredictable, when it gets muddy its not far short of an ordeal. But i don't seem to mind the crowds there for some reason, or the noise. I love live music.

Weirdly, there was an article in the Guardian today written by an autistic person about going to Glastonbury.

I don't go anymore because its way too expensive and music seems to have moved on and left me behind a bit. There's nothing on the line up that I want to see. If guitar music becomes mainstream again I may return one day. I'd like to.

I still go to a smaller 3-day music festival near me most years and I go on my own.

I don't do festivals anymore. I've done my fair share in the past but I don't even like the quality of outdoor music especially in daylight when you can't see the light show, and there's too much other visual overwhelm. Then of course the conditions at festivals which you mentioned can make them really awful. I'd rather people stay in their lane at an indoor show, even if it's only two bands instead of a longer lineup.

^The sound on the main stages at Glastonbury is pretty poor. It's often quite windy which doesn't help. The smaller stages (there are about 50 stages iirc) are better, the tented ones even more so.

That said it doesn't have to be bad, the festival I still go to has great sound and that's outside. I saw King Gizzard there last year and it sounded fantastic.

I saw them indoors last year!

I'm sure they sound great anywhere!
