It seems I'm clueless...

I've wrote poetry and had success by compliments, but the problem is I do not know how to write a poem in a traditional sense. For an example, the poetry on poetry.com. I do not get the layout and way of doing things. I feel if I could understand I could become quite good at poetry. Can anyone help? I would be eternally grateful.

You might try http://www.writing.com/main/handler/item_id/168945 It is a site for writers and has advice. Also try http://thewordshop.tripod.com/forms.html which describes the technical end of different forms. There is all sorts of advice on the web if you ask the right questions of Google.
