I want to post the concept art ive done for Sons of Earth on a website (http://www.deviantart.com), but when I scan the pics that Ive allreddy colord, it comes out looking horrible - trust me - but the scannin software on my computer isnt ment for art, its ment for photos (and no i do not wanna take the redeye out of pictures that happen to be 100% eyeless) so i cant color them on the computer. But if i just dont color them, then its almost impossible to see them on the computer. So does anyone no were i can get some cheep art software?

This program, Pixia, is free and works well for me despite not being too great on intructions. It was kind of translated badly, but not impossibly badly. I figured it out quick enough.

Here are some more freeware programs, although all I know is Movies13, which is fun to use; I've made lots of avatars/emoticons with it. Only thing is it won't do transparent (supposedly it does but it stinks).

Photoshop CS2. If you can't afford that look at Photoshop Elements.

These are... downlodable? Or on a CD?

I know you can download a demo of Adobe Photoshop CS2, not sure about Elements. Elements also comes bundled with a lot of hardware (your scanner may even have some bundled software you can use. Though Elements is a little easier to find in stores, you can get the full versions either one on CD, I am not sure about full download versions. Photoshop is the standard as far as graphics programs go and Elements is basically just a light version of it, but it costs several hundred dollars less (around $99.00 I think). Both are worth the price, especially if you are really into the type of stuff you described.

My scanner did have bundled software. The bundled software was ment to be used with fotos.

About how much wood $99 be in sterling?

No, I am not. These can edit pictures you have scanned onto your computer. That is what they do. Photo editing is just the name of the type of software; I use them to edit drawings as well.

there's a open source program called Gimp you can download it no cost. It does most of what Photoshop can. Here is the link http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html
Install the GTK+ 2 for Windows version 2.6.8 first than Gimp for Windows version 2.2. 8 program. Could be what you need it can edit a lot of stuff from a scanned image.

Yeah, Gimp is pretty good. I forgot all about that one.

It might sound really strange, but have you checked the monitor you are using? My old monitor had a tendancy to shift to the colder end of the spectrum. Try looking at a peice of work you know from real life and compare it to the way it presents on your computer screen.
If you want to use the Gimp but have trouble downloading it, then try using one of the Linux live distros, Mepis maybe. That way all the dependancies are taken care of the program is installed and ready to go and you can just get on and do it.
Cheers.

Calibrating the monitor is very beneficial if you are serious about graphics. I use an EyeOne Display, but there are free software programs that can help you calibrate it also. Search for "free monitor calibration software."
