I was wondering, which do you decide is better when it comes to wanting short notes with some percussion to the sound? How do you decide which is better between the two within the ensemble of instruments for a piece?

The tone of what you're making?

I guess keep in mind you have other choices as well, like vibraphone if you want something with a bit of oscillation. Also don't forget EP's, clavinets, 12-string guitar, a lot of total instruments with percussive attacks, you just have to think of which tones either match or add to the piece of music you're making best.

I'll share something by PM in a sec, mainly that it's a side-project that I'm doing with a Facebook project and I'm not sure I want to staple my association between here and there.

Oh okay thanks. Well I was looking to see which instrument between the two makes for better punctuation when it comes to being played along with viols. Here is an example from a score, where you have piano played with viols, at 0:47 into this clip:

But does one sound better than the other when it comes to adding punctuation to viols? As for guitar or 12 string guitar, would that add the same type of punctuation to viols or are guitar strings, not percussive or heavy enough for that?
