The sad thing about this one, is that it's not a bad song. It's just a horrible, horrible version of an otherwise fine song.

Ditto here for all but country.
A decade ago pop still had a few good songs, long gone are those days.

I'd say the worst is either Wrecking Ball, Royals, Thrift Shop, or Roar.

The biggest one for me is probably "Blurred Lines". The lyrics disgust me so much.

I don't mind "The Fox" that much. My younger cousins sing it all the time. I'd much rather have them sing that than songs like "Scream and Shout" or other popularized songs with little sexual innuendos.

I think the "all modern music is rubbish" train of thought is just as ignorant, close minded and ultimately wrong as the "old music sucks and is irrelevant" opinion spouted on YouTube videos.

Some great pop songs were released this year- "Tennis Court" by Lorde, "My Number" by Foals, "Black Skinhead" by Kanye West, "Story Of My Life" by One Direction, "Hard Out Here" by Lily Allen (probably the best pop song since she did "The Fame"), "Diane Young" by Vampire Weekend, "Chocolate" by The 1975, "F***in' Problems" by A$AP Rocky (ft. Drake and Kendrick Lamar)... and let's not forget "Recover", "The Mother We Share", "Gun" and "Lies" by Chvrches.

Then this was quite possibly the best year ever for rock music (great albums from Vampire Weekend, Chvrches, David Bowie, Foals, Arcade Fire, Cage The Elephant, My Bloody Valentine, Haim, Arctic Monkeys, Queens Of The Stone Age, The Strypes, Palma Violets...) and for hip hop (another utter gem from Kanye West, plus respectable output from Jay-Z, Kid Cudi, Pusha T, A$AP Rocky, and Drake, and I am assured by connoisseurs that there were several other good albums, and Kendrick Lamar had a few excellent features).

*shrug* Wrecking Ball was bad. But then again, my musical tastes reside between the years 1977 and 1993, for the most part. Can't go wrong with the classics.

I agree with this. I'm fond of 'My Number', and 'Hard Out Here'. I personally do not care for 'Black Skinhead' or 'Story Of My Life', but I can get that you would like them. On the other hand, I think 'Bound 2' is a very strong track, and it rather amuses me that people are falling all over the video and the song.

Don't forget to mention Kings Of Leon when talking about rock. They've managed to release an album that's radio-friendly and at the same time continues to evolve their sound in the positive sense. Also, they're a killer band to experience live. I agree with you on the releases of QotSA, Foals, and Arctic Monkeys.

A cousin of mine wanted me to listen to this. I told him I do NOT listen to anything that isn't rock, metal, or videogame. He kept pushing me saying the song is funny but I kept saying NO.

Anything that isn't metal deserves to be on this thread.

I didn't bother with it because I haven't been too impressed by their past stuff (probably because I don't like the singer's voice very much), but I'll be sure to give it a spin now you've recommended it!

Well then frankly, more fool you.
