I first heard the following song ('Hydrochloric' by Funkacidic) on an old acid house compilation.
Years later I heard a similar (presumably older) song playing in a shop.
Does anyone know what that older song might have been?
In other words, does anyone know which song this 'Hydrochloric' song is based on? I'm guessing it's some Funkadelic song (hence the similar band name: Funkacidic). It could even be multiple Funkadelic songs mashed up together. Note the intro is about 30 second long. The 'real' song starts at around 30 seconds.

Not sure, but it definitely sounds like Parliament or Funkadelic, or any related spin-off. I think the Brides of Funkenstein were the backing singers, and that sounds like them.

Thanks. To me, it sounds closest to the Funkadelic song "Not Just Knee Deep" (especially the bassline), but I feel sure there is some other song out there I'm missing (maybe Funkadelic/Parliament, maybe not).

I'm probably going to be no help whatsoever but hopefully may jog your memory, when listening to this ^ I heard Ice Cube - Bop Gun

which samples Funkadelic's - One Nation Under A Groove
Thanks. One Nation Under A Groove is probably Funkadelic's best-known song, but it's a long time since I've heard it, and now I've listened to it again I can see it is a bit similar to the song I posted.
