What misheard song lyrics do you consider the funniest?

{If you don't have a sense of humor, don't bother posting in this thread! :lol: }

"Scuse me while I kiss this guy!", from "Purple Haze" by Jimmy Hendrix

Actually, it's "Scuse me while I kiss the sky!", referring to the act of taking a drag off a "Merry Joanna" cigarette.

"From the cross to the grave, my dead toupée" - from "Lord Lift Your Name on High" by Donnie Mcclurkin.

Actually, it's "From the cross to the grave, my debt to pay".

"Therrrrsss a bathroom on the right!"

Folks THINK this is mondegreen, but I swear it's right.

In the song "You Ain't Goin' Nowhere" I hear Bob Dylan sing "Genghis Khan, and his brother Don, could not keep on keeping on".

Most folks my age remember "Genghis Khan" but cant believe that the next words could POSSIBLY be "his brother Don", but they can never recall what the right words are.

Listened to it just now. Still sounds like "his brother Don" to me!

Speaking of CCR I wondered for years why they allowed "Down in the Corner" to be played on the radio because I misheard "bring a nickel, tap your feet" as "bring a n****r, tap your feet".

Springsteen's "Blinded By The Light" (also covered by Manfred Mann). Most people heard "wrapped up like a douche another runner in the night". Actual lyric is "revved up like a deuce".

"Lucille" by Kenny Rogers--people commonly misunderstand "with four hungry children and a crop in the field" as "with four hundred children and a crop in the field".

"Blank Space" by Taylor Swift--sounds like it's saying "Starbucks lovers" when it's really saying "got a long list of ex-lovers".

For many years, I heard Bette Midler sing "I say love, it is a flower, and you will sow the seed" in her rendition of The Rose.

The actual lyric is "and you, it's only seed".

Rush - Fly by Night.... It sounds like Geddy Lee is singing "Shit-fits are coming and I just can't pretend."

"It's Just A Little Crush" by Jennifer Paige:

Misheard Lyrics:
It's just, a little crush
Not black on pink, every time we touch.

Original Lyrics:
It's just, a little crush
Not like I faint, every time we touch.

Misheard Lyrics:
Smells like coffee, every time we touch

Original Lyrics:
It's not like I faint, every time we touch

RE: "Blinded by the Light", Springsteen has gone on record joking that the song wasn't a hit until the Manfred Mann Band made it about female hygiene products. :P The mondegreen is mostly associated with the MM cover.

RE: "Crush", I used to mishear that line as "Not like I bleed, every time we touch".

Another common one is in Toto's "Africa":

The line "Sure as Kilimanjaro rises like an empress above the Serengeti" is commonly misheard as "rises like a leopardess" (which people suppose is a female leopard) or "rises like a leperess" (which would be interpreted as female leper).

Instances such as Taylor Swift's ex-lovers line in Blank Space being misheard, are due to unconventional diction and pacing of certain lines; more specifically, the words are stressed in an unusual way. "Got a LONG list OF ex LO-vers", the mind thinks that the OF syllable, which is stressed, must surely be a more important word than 'of', which usually remains unstressed. So you get "STAR bucks lovers", "STAR crossed lovers", etc

As coincidence would have it, "Crush" was just now played on the radio as I was typing this post. :)
