My favourite fanfic is 'The Addams family move to Gotham City'. It's a compilation of videos acted out by one guy. He does an excellent job at distinguishing the characters considering he's the only actor. There's a compilation of all the parts on YouTube. I would describe it as a dark slice of life comedy that's pretty absurd but highly entertaining.

I wrote a fanfic once and posted it to Ao3 (Archive of our own). However, it's fairly niche. One specific chapter of one specific book really used to bug me. The character experiences something very similar to what I experienced and I related to him a lot but the way the topic itself is initially handled is a little awkward in my opinion. It's definitely well intentioned but damn did that chapter emotionally smack me in the face. I actually had to put the book down for a moment.
Rewriting the chapter was pretty fun and actually therapeutic in a way. It has a small audience but I can see that people have liked and bookmarked it so I'm happy enough that they're happy.
The rewrite of that specific chapter was not a new idea, in fact a podcast I listen to suggested to its audience that we should go write our own versions (it's a controversial scene in general amongst fans) but all the versions I found from other people weren't what I had in mind. So I wrote my own. Although I did like the jokey fanfic comic someone drew of that scene, which during when the antagonist is monologuing, he gets punched in the face part way through abruptly ending his speech. 10 / 10. No notes.
