No one seems to listen to this genre.
From what I've heard, I like Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Explosions in the Sky, Mogwai.
Also like Sigur Ros a bit, and I've heard a song by Red Sparowes which shows a lot of promise.

Anyone else out there? Recommend me something please

I listen to some music in the Math-Rock genre, which I guess is an offshoot of Post-Rock.

I've tried to get into Post-Rock, and some is interesting. But the slow building nature and lack of powerful rhythms... tends to keep me away. I like the complicated and interesting structure of it though.

I'm not sure if you'll be able to find all of these bands, but I like Don Caballero, Pele, Lumen, Volta Do Mar, Drums & Tuba.

Not exactly sure how these bands fit into post-rock, but they are related I think.

I have also just come out of a post rock band, pretty much what got me into it.

Whoa. I would never get Math-rock or Math-core mixed with post-rock. Math-rock is about meticulously stapling it together, hence 'math.' Post-rock is much more about jams and peaks and troughs.

If you don't mind vocals on your post-rock, try out one of my favourite bands ever, the now-defunct Hope Of The States.

I like those 2, but it's been a few years since I've listened to either of them.

I like a bit of post-rock. If you listened to Red Sparowes and liked it, try Pelican. I also like God Is an Astronaut, This Will Destroy You, Russian Circles and A Silver Mt. Zion.

Hello everyone, I'm new here but it's funny because I just found this thread, and I'm a pretty big fan of Sigur Ros and some other post-rock (although I'm probably mostly into metal), but I am actually in a post-rock band. I'm just listening to God is an Astronaut and I am very pleased with what I hear. Easier to listen to than a lot of post-rock, but still interesting. Can this be found in stores?

you know i'm down with the post-rock. i tend to play it myself. i usually flip flop from recording synth-pop/electronic to post-rock. i post my stuff on the sixty one if anyone is interested.

oh yes, sixty one... its a music social networking site, for listeners and artists. artists post their stuff and listeners "bump" it if they think its cool, and there's a leveling scheme depending on your activity/participation.

there's a lot of good stuff over there... dntel (the other half of postal service) is over there, and so is ben g, and its just got a lot of very unusual and way off the beaten path stuff.

I listen to Wizard Rock (Harry Potter).

I have listen to others but can't name them off the top of my head.

KISS- Rock 'n' Roll All Nite is my favorite at the moment.

Tortoise, and Russian Circles are good Post-Rock.

I wanna look for fast-paced Instrumental/Post-Metal.

some more good stuff, the appleseed cast. they are just simply amazing.

Godspeed is such a great group of artists its incredible. Lift your skinny fists has got to be my favorite album, and my favorite piece has to be either east hastings or storm

Explosions in the sky is also a great band, im pretty partial to the earth is not a cold dead place, but their newest effort was really astonishing.
