I figured that on such a boring evening it would be a good time to share some of my song lyrics with you guys and perhaps receive some feedback, and henceforth this will be the thread in which I do it. I've been writing lyrics for almost a year now, in a loose garage band trio that can't really get itself together very often. I'm our lead singer and songwriter, though, so it's my job to do a lot of the heavy work... I can't get any actual music or tunes for our lyrics, save a few, but for now I'm content developing my own style of libretto.

I have many more songs than this, but I'm going to post them one or two at a time, in no particular order. The first one is called "Be Your Life", and though definitely not my best one, I think it's probably the one that the most AS people here will relate to and understand.

I wrote "Be Your Life" as a message mainly to all those Paparazzi-obsessed people of my generation who are so fixed on becoming famous and mimicking whatever trends the big celebrities have started. It's a lesson about the rewards of individuality and a warning that your life can really be destroyed if you don't make it your own, so don't let the big names control you. I'll see what you guys think - feel free to leave constructive critique, ask questions, inquire about my rampant metaphors, etc. :)

==========================
Be Your Life
Every day gets us looking on what someone's found
All the words and pictures from high above the ground
A tidal wave where everyone wants debris to grab onto
A single calm moment is more than anyone can do

[Chorus:]
Who do they think they are?
Just to live our lives we have to reach so far
All of the things we have to see
Just 'cause of all the people we can’t be

We're leaving them all a million miles away
At least that's something I wish we could say
Everyone they say we're supposed to be like
Is choking up all the selfish time in our lives

[Chorus]

No no we can't be
No no what we see
No no look at you
No what can you do?
