I love Skinny Puppy and even the singer's side project Ohgr. Does anyone else like Skinny Puppy? If so what is your favorite song?

For those who don't know Skinny Puppy, they are very unique and have been around for a long time out of the spotlight of the mainstream. Ministry came out around the same time as Skinny Puppy and both bands put words to industrial music and guitar.

Here is a Skinny Puppy Vid- Dig it

It inspired Trent Reznor's "Down In It"

Skinny Puppy had alot of very graphic videos in the 80's against vivisection but it's very graphic so I won't show it.

Love their older stuff, particularly these three cd's. I still think it would be next to impossible to find industrial this good anywhere else.

My favorite are Worlock and Chainsaw.

I even have a favorite from Ohgr. Nivek's side project. The song Majik

Hmm, if I were to break it down over the three cd's I listed:

Mind the Perpetual Intercourse: Stairs and Flowers, 200 Years

VIVISectVI: Harsh Stone White, SKUMM, Pat On The Back, Testure, Yes He Ran

Last Rights: Love In Vein, Killing Game, Scrapyard, Riverzend, Circustance

BTW, you familiar with the story behind the Last Rights cd? How all lyrics to the album were scraps from Ogre's diary while he was trying to go sober and going through withdrawl from the H. The lyrics were said to be so personal to him that he wouldn't even print them in the cd. Well, they have the lyrics out now on a lot of places - Love in Vein and Circustance especially put it out there what he was going through, Knowhere is pretty touching too just because you can see how living the rockstar life can really make someone a lot like us who feels like they've got a higher message to deliver with their music really feel like they're rotting away.

I was not familiar with the story behind Last Rights. Thanks for sharing. I think if a new Evil Dead movie comes out, Nivek should be the star.

Yeah living the rockstar life isn't for everyone. Have you seen any shows? I've been to one when he was doing Ohgr. It was great and he had his mask on that looks like something out of Predator.

I like a few songs by them but am not a fan. I wish another artist would do a cover of "Assimilate," because I'd really like that song if it wasn't for the old sound it has...

Even for it's old sound, it's great. Who do you think should do a cover. Please don't say Manson :(

The few tracks I've heard by Skinny Puppy are really good, my favourite so far being 'Tin Omen'.

Skinny Puppy and OhGr are full of win! 8)

I'm curious to see him in Repo! The Genetic Opera.
(Which will be interesting since I care not for musicals.)

I think Skinny Puppy is underrated. There have been others bringing forth that style to the mainstream which was great.

I think of industrial as the AS of music. Mainstream will only accept a few tokens but there is still no industrial mainstream radio station. Even though industrial music was made in the 70's starting with Throbbing Gristle, it's still considered ahead of it's time.

People have the wrong idea that because something isn't in the mainstream the reason is that the music is bad. False. Unless you think the lip syncing pop stars that don't write their own music made it because they are such great musicians.

Ever notice how musicians start making alot of money and then their creativity falls? One thing I like about Skinny Puppy and Ohgr is they continue to make their own style of music and do it good.

I'm not a huge fan, but I do enjoy listening to them on occasion. I was listening to Bites the other day. For an album that was released over 20 years ago, it still sounds new and innovative. You don't find that too often in mainstream music.

Manson, do a cover. Pfft.. I don't think so. The last thing I want to see are little Masonites running around screaming out the lyrics.

I think System Of A Down could possibly put a new twist on some of the old stuff. Yeah, yeah, System Of A Down a mainstream band. If anything it would give Skinny Puppy a chance to gain some new fans it would be them.

I quite like System of a Down. The singer's voice is great.

I think Skinny Puppy themselves should put out a new version of Assimilate. It is really annoying like you said about the fans citing their artist as the creator.

People give too much credit towards covering songs rather than the original artist anyway.

I need to listen to their new album mythmaker again. Someone brought it up to me today and said that it was too brilliant.

Worlock is one of my favorites too. It has been on repeat for months now along with other songs that have made it to the repeat playlist.

Oh hell no. I love MM but he couldn't do a good cover of Assimilate, especially since his new stuff is garbage. I don't know who'd do a good cover of it, honesty. I DO think that MM should do a cover of Oingo Boingo's "Insanity" though, and that Orgy should do a cover of Thrill Kill Kult's "The Days of Swine and Roses."

I have to say, Skinny Puppy's "The Greater Wrong of the Right" is starting to grow on me...that happened after I heard the song "Use Less" playing at the gothic/industrial dance club I go to every week or so. XD

So far I have to say, I've enjoyed Mythmaker more than I have any of their older albums. My favorite tracks are pedafly and ugli.
