When you find a word that you like, does it get stuck in your head, repeating over and over like a fragment of a song?

This happens to me. The word that is stuck in my head right now is scheltopusik. It is a name for Ophisaurus apodus, also known as the European legless lizard. Basic info and photos here.

Yes, fairly frequently! Once, it was Shostakovich, the name of a Russian composer. Since I love the way it sounds, I kept repeating it aloud.

It did years ago, but not recently.

Yes. I usually say them over and over until it sounds weird. The word that's stuck in my head now is my Nickname: Retropolismetropolis.

If I read an author with a distinct style for any length of time, then the voice in my head will begin to mimic it.

Certain names do that for me. Samantha is a favorite name of mine because it was the name of my favorite cat.

What is it about those Russian words? They sound good to me too, so they get stuck in my head. Russian is a beautiful language.

Its called internal echolalia, and it is associated with Autism Spectrum Disorders. I sometimes hear specific people say my name so loud they could be right over my shoulder but they have been gone for hours. I also have phrases that have been stuck in my head from years.

My kindergarten teacher used to start the mornings with "good morning, good morning the little bird said" and there it is in my brain 25 years later in the same sing song voice and everything.

I tend to repeat not words, but stupid sentences and phrases, in my mind. Really odd things like: 'Joseph Stalin was the head of the Communist party and the dictator of Russia'. Another one: 'Sinking into the depths of bankruptcy' There are others, but none of them is relevant to anything about myself. I have no idea whether this relates to Asperger's, or is just my own private madness.

Yes, it's not only words that I like. It's also words I don't like. Also, lines from shows/movies get stuck in my head quite often.
The other day I had the word 'congruent' stuck in my head and I couldn't stop laughing about it. Everytime I would say congruent in my mind I would start laughing. I probably looked like a crazy person, sitting there doing the dishes laughing every few seconds. Thankfully my son doesn't care. :D

they do, all of the time. all of the time I'll spell a word in my head over and over different ways, forwards and backwards, etc.

Sometimes I'll hear words that haven't been said, although that's really rare for me. It's more common that a word or a sentence will just pop into my head for no apparent reason.

Oh man, this happens to me ALL THE FRIGGING TIME. I hate it. It's always words that annoy me too, and they won't go away. I try to 'banish' them but they just keep coming back!! Argh!! I find it incredibly frustrating. Songs are bad enough, I really don't want words too...

Yeah. It's really annoying when I hate that person's voice. *coughs my mom's chain-smoking friend coughs*
