Not for years. I was looking to switch to piccolo in 7th grade but I made 1st chair and my parent decided I didn't deserve to play. A bummer really.

Currently, I just can't afford a flute, even a used one. Maybe next year. Good for the lungs.

Yeah that's lame. It kills me when I hear of parents discouraging their children from exploring their talents.

I play the flute and i own my own flute. I had to stop playing the flute because of a problem I had with my mouth, which has been fixed. So, I can play the flute again, which I do once and awhile.

had one, taught myself to play it some...had to sell it to pay bills, but that's life..;) The pads lost humidity or something, or maybe it was the beard, but after awhile, I couldn't get anything out of it...

I played the flute for years in junior high and high school, but after sophomore year I gave it up. Too many solos, too much stress, so I dropped out of band and now I play the piano. But I do miss the flute sometimes...

Yeah I play flute. I'm doing well in my highschool band. I'm going to start lessons soon, and I'm going to play in this high standard music festival. I'm good at improvising.
I'm also taking up saxophone and guitar.

Mine is just a beginner flute, but I could never do that.

not exactly, but I recently found a flute...I can produce a decent sound, but have yet to unravel the mystery of playing scales or melodies...

I do. I started playing when I was 10 years old, played in my middle school and highschool stage and jazz bands, and am still playing 29 years later. I also play other instruments but the flute will always be my favorite.

I wish you the best of luck in the music festival.

I used to play, but now my flute's old and the sound isn't as clear. Plus I've always hated "warming up" the flute, you couldn't just pick it up and play.
Now I just play recorder. I taught myself, the fingerings are similar to flute, and it's not nearly as high-maintainance. Just make sure you get a good wooden one, instead of those plastic ones. :)

I own a flute, when I was in primary school we were taught how to play but in fact there's only one simple melody I can play by heart. I haven't been playing the flute for a long time even though it's still on my shelf. I remember that when our teacher told us to buy flutes it was very hard to find one in our stores and finally my mother had to buy me it in another town, as far as I'm able to recall.
