Are any of you fans of The Velvet Underground? I am a big fan of them and have all of their albums.

I'd question the sanity of anyone who isn't

or at least accuse them of blinding ignorance or no taste

yes, my favourite is 'all tomorrows parties'. I don't like their more far out stuff, I'm more into their pop songs.

I love that song, it's one of my favourites. I like the intro best, it makes me think of the past.

Waiting for the man, still a classic after all these years.

I read a biography of Lou Reed last year - he's a very strange guy. I've read Nico's too (is that an autobiography? can't remember), it was quite a good read.

Lou Reed is a strange guy - maybe why he writes such amazing songs!

Some people believe that Nico has Asperger's Syndrome.

mm hard to tell underneath all the drugs. I read her story about 10 years ago so I can't remember the sort of things that would indicate AS. It's a druggy oddysey, the book about Nico. I think it's "Songs they don't play on the radio" or something, the title.

I like their early stuff, particularly the 'White Light, White Heat' release. I also have a copy of the unreleased Sceptre Recording sessions version of 'Andy Warhol' that was ripped directly from the only known acetate.

I like VU, but I despise Nico. Since someone else in this thread is named after her, I'll refrain from further comment.

'Venus In Furs' is amazing, though.

A great, pioneering and classic band. "Venus in Furs" is probably my favorite track by them. I like the first two albums the most.

I love "Stephanie Says" and "Femme Fatale".

Nico's voice can be monochromatic, but I do like her voice in the context of the VU. I haven't listened to her stuff outside the VU, though.

I love the VU. The songs Moe Tucker sings are pretty cool, like "Afterhours". Oh, and I love "The Gift". And I can't pick a favorite among all the other songs. There are hardly any I don't like.

Velvet Underground is my favorite band. Lou Reed's lyrics are amazing and VU's sound was very ahead of its time.

It's funny that someone brought up Nico and her maybe being an Aspie, because I've been thinking about that the last couple of days. She did seem very unique.

I like the album VU and Nico. According to that Rock and Roll documentary they showed two months ago on VH1 Classics, David Bowie was heavily influenced by them after hanging out with them for inspiration.
