Does anyone else here like Avril Lavigne? She's one of my favorite singers. I have both of her CD'S, "Let Go" and "Under My Skin". My favorite Avril songs are "Anything But Ordinary" and "He Wasn't". She has a good voice and is a really good singer!

I am not a big fan of Avril Lavigne's, though I like to listen to some of her songs from to time. My brother likes her a lot though ; he knows almost all her songs.

Avril's music is pretty good! I like her new music, but I like her old stuff like 'Complicated' better. Avril is such a refreshing change from all the other punk rock musicians, who are so loud that they give me a headache!

I like Avril Lavigne...I have two of her albums...but I don't think I'll buy the most recent one...Sadly, by now I get the impression that she is just as much as a commercial singer as anybody else...Her image is remarkably well-made...I probably should have noticed this long before...although there's nothing wrong with being commercial...it's just that I didn't think that she was and now I feel that she is...but I do agree that her music is attractive and touching in a lot of ways...

coming from the actual punk underground (not as seen on tv), i despise her marketing and think it cheapens what we stand for and cheapens what it means to be a punk.

that being said, i also wouldn't take anyone's enjoyment of music away from them. like what you like.

I like her a lot more than I used to.

She's grown up.

people like that don't grow up. they just pay people to write slower, more "mature" music.

She has some really catchy songs. But some are too whiny.

Avril is a pig. she looks like one, and squeels like one too. anyone who likes her work should kill themselves.

She has. She's ditched a lot of the no good attitude and tom boy phase.

*sigh* i'll put it in real simple terms for you. IT'S ALL AN ACT TO FOOL YOU INTO THINKING SHE'S SOMETHING SHES NOT. SHE'S NOT REAL, HER "PUNK" PHASE WASN'T REAL AND NEITHER IS HER CURRENT PHASE, IT'S A MARKETING PLOY TO DUPE PEOPLE TOO STUPID OR TOO LAZY TO GIVE A SPIT.

easy enough? there is no phase other than the one that her manager or record exec tells her to take.

it's fake. you're gullible. and the music sucks anyways.

damn straight skafater84 shes a bad singer and dreadful song writter and would therefore make a perfect punk but either your not a posser or u addmit to being a bit of a posser but shers in posser denial plus shes in a band but doesn't gve them any credit.
the only way to redeem herself would be to go out and find the worst guitarist the worst drummer and the worst bass players ever go out and catch the flue come back in and turn up the volume till you can't understand a word shes saying and yell and rant and rave about how evil bush is and slam/pogo dance like its 1977.
Gabba Gabba Hey don't go pop sick with rock!

she doesn't write any songs, though...that's the thing. she's just a singer who puts on a character. like a tv show...you know?

there is no reason for her proving herself to a punk scene.....she's not punk! she just used it as a way to sell records and when that was done, she "matured" and didn't bother with the BS.

excuse my coarse language but i'm being very frank about someone who claims to be a part of my scene while simply abusing and destroying what i believe in and what i love.

Exactly.

I remember a couple weeks ago arguing with someone (I forget who exactly) about the definition of "pop punk". She seemed to think that Avril Lavigne was "pop punk" and I had to inform her that Avril Lavigne was simply pop. There's no punk there, there will never be, there has never been. I think that anyone with a proper ear for music or lyrics can (probably could is a better word there, as I don't know what the "mature" stuff sounds like) hear that.

A lot of you guys need to STFU. Don't insult members for liking a certain artist. If you don't, that's fine, but please don't take it out on othe WP members. Be kind.
