I have recently discovered that Electronica (modern dance music) is very benificial to me. I play it while I am laying in bed to fall asleep easier, when I am in school working on something to block out outside noises and to help me concentrate (I dunno why, but even when it is completely quiet, I work far better while listening to it). In particular, Trance music (a type of Electronica) helps me fall asleep and Electro Industrial and Trance helps me concentrate. Does anyone else feel this way? I have a Zune, I just subscribed to 3 different Electronica podcasts (I got literally days of Electronica from each, from the old podcasts). Also, could anyone recommend any artists that have a lot of electro industrial or trance-type music? I wanna buy some CDs, it is very helpful.

I have heard people say the same thing about Classic music before, but I tried that and it did not work nearly as well.

I quite enjoy trance-y, space-y, and/or electronica & industrial music. I can't stand most classical music, it bores or agitates me.
I am low-tech (both in my internet hookup & human ability) so generally can't access online music. Makes it hard to compare notes in terms of saying "is this (sound clip) that ?", but nontheless...
Recently figured out what an instrumental track (that I was absolutely crazy about) was, the song from "Snatch" during the hare-chase scene. "Disco Science" by Mirwais (whom I'd never heard of before).
Great CD: "Risotto" by Fluke.
Also, "Born Slippy" 3-track CD single by The Underworld.
Generally: Thievery Corporation, Massive Attack, The Crystal Method, The Orb...
Perhaps you could name examples of artists (and maybe which tracks, if it's more specific ones you like) so one could know what you're familiar with. (For us dial-up people who can't do the podcasting/youtube/whatnot thing).
Sure there are many threads on these music styles, and plenty of people who find that this music "feels good to their brains"-whether for calming down or gearing up.

Found one good band, Cosmic Gate. Type it on youtube, and please recommend any bands similar if you know any. Also, do they sell these kind of CDs at wal-mart, or will I need to go somewhere bigger like Best Buy to get them?

My favorite is cybo. Her music is really good and she's a really nice person Here's my stuff, which is different. Both fall under the realm of electronic music. :)

A major artist in this genre is Tangerine Dream. where website is here. They've been around in some form for nearly 40 years, and have over 50 albums to their credit.

I have at least 10 of their albums. They're my longest lasting special interest!

EDIT: material worth looking at includes:

The albums phaedra (original), phaedra 2007 (rerecording), thief, force majeure, ricochet, rubycon, transsiberia (excellent driving music), oasis, great wall of china, The Dream Mixes Series, Antique Dreams.

Mars Polaris and Dream Sequence have good individual songs, Tournado and Valentine Wheels make excellent live concert recordings, especially a version of "Beach Theme" (1997) from the latter that brought me to tears of joy!

Yeah I agree that electronica can help me go to sleep and that sort of thing. A lot of times I would listen to Air's Just Breathe when I first woke up in the mornings and just take a moment to take a few deep breaths and start the day calm and relaxed.

I also like DnB a lot too. I like to listen to it when I'm driving and that sort of thing, or go to a club and listen to it. A good friend of mine ended up becoming a DJ and does shows up in Dallas Texas now too. He's a pretty good DJ, you can check out one of his mixes here if you're into that.

Riddick, you might visiting the website di.fm. They do online radio with many different channels of electronic music. If you subscribe, you can get higher quality streams. I do and I love it.

I think it's meant to. :)

Not sure what exactly's meant by electronica here, I like a lot of different electronic music

Been into alot of IDM stuff through my dad, Orb, Orbital, Aphex Twin, Future Sound Of London..

Theivery Corporation's 'The Cosmic Game' always helps me sleep..
