I don't find that to be particularly creepy. HR Giger's 'Pump Excursion' OTOH, is definately a creepy painting.

The first one I didn't think was, but that one... yep. It is creepy, soon as you figure out what the red eyed one is holding, and that it's actauly a high heal shoe pressing into their gutt. uhm.. well.. uhm..

The first one looked kind normal, except the spiders made it weird. The second one was a disgusting parody of something you never want to see IRL.

Sure. Creepy/macabre artwork is my favourite genre.

Oh, come now. You can say it's not creepy for you and i'll believe, but now you're just distorting the truth...

The second one I didn't find very creepy.

If you want creepy paintings, Zdzislaw Beksinski's paintings are nightmare-inducing.

I found the first painting to be quite amusing - there are obvious sexual connotations but only for people with filthy minds (like me) :D

I find most of Giger's paintings to be awesome and creepy, though not pump excursion. His creepiest ones are those where you look for a while and then later on, you notice things you didn't see before - sort of a painting based paradigm shift.

of course, the one that has always creeped me out was this one.

The Picture is "The Nightmare" (1781) by Henry Fuseli.

Wikipedia on The Nightmare.

"Emerging from a part in the curtain is the head of a horse with bold, featureless eyes"

Mr. Wikipedia wrote:
....Germanic tales about demons and witches that possessed people who slept alone. In these stories, men were visited by horses or hags, giving rise to the terms "hag-riding" and "mare-riding", and women were believed to engage in sex with the devil.

Horses in the bed are generally not a good idea (see Flying High and The Godfather).

gbollard you beat me to it!

I do love that horse's head. Seems like an all to literal interpretation of night mare ;)

Freaks me out.
