...which is weird because I sometimes write poetry.
This poem I'm reading is about called The Sleeping, by Caroline Maun.

The narrator tells us she has been sleeping in a wolf's jaw, something struck her, if she'd had a second chance she would have told me I hadn't taken anything important and shot me, because she felt she was robbed of "the possibility to act".
And somehow it's supposively about the American Dream?

I love literature, and a lot of poetry, but there are many poems I hate.

The writer may have a number of intentions in any given work of art. In my personal opinion, art is meant to challenge an audience to think as much as it is meant to communicate ideas on a wide spectrum. I enjoy multifaceted poetry subjective enough to be interpreted differently by each individual. Ideally, readers should draw a plethora of unique conclusions in addition to those found by consensus. Some prefer direct, others abstract, but ultimately poetry is a very personal affair.

Many a reason in the rhyme topic

Excellent explanation, Syd. :D

Poetry, like all the other arts, is a wide field. It includes limericks, nursery rhymes, song lyrics, and a host of very variable poets whose styles vary from the totally cryptic to the outright idiotic. To look at Lewis Carroll, Robert Frost, T.S.Eliot, Emily Dickenson, Shakespeare, Edward Lear, Ogden Nash, Donne, etc. and classify them all under one category and declare them all inscrutable strikes me as rather strange.

Yeah as I look at this poem more and more, it makes more sense.

I said no such thing! Of those in that list I've heard, I like all of them.

My God, what was I saying?
I don't hate poetry. I just hated that poem because it was late and I didn't feel like analyzing it.

I don't understand a lot of poetry either, yet I love to write it.
