Primus is a kickass band With Les Claypool on bass. Their music is very "weird" and "dissonant". I think it's very aspie sounding in a way. Their album "sailing the seas of cheese" is their best in my opinion. They also did the southpark theme for the first couple of seasons. Why they changed the theme to a more techno and then country sound is beyond me. They should've kept the original primus theme. Here are some cool primus songs to download illegally:

-Tommy the cat (was in the movie "bill and ted's bogus journey")

-Jerry was a racecar driver (was in one of the tony hawk games)

-My name is mud

-Welcome to this world (was in a southpark episode)

-the air is getting slippery

There are many more but those are among the best in my opinion.

I'm not into them really but I heard them once and it was pretty amazing. I probably will explore them sometime.

The first time I heard them was after a show that I ran sound for in January, 1991. The owner of the place put on the 'Suck On This' tape and I was amazed with it. OTOH, I'm not a big fan of their studio stuff with all of the overdubs and overproduction tricks , but 'Suck On This' is a testament to the bands greatness as they were able to pull off what many bands can ony do in the studio, live.

i saw them live back in the early days of the last election (i remember because Les had a Howard Dean sticker on his bass cabinet). they were playing in Milwaukee and me and my brother took a roadtrip to go see them. they played for three and a half hours. it was incredible. highlights included:

- Les using a bikini top someone threw on stage as a slide
- Herb's 10 minute drum solo
- The 1950's anti-drug propaganda film they played during the intermission
- Les' roadie coming out in a Dubya mask during "Here Comes the Bastards" while Les hit it on a custom percussion kit
- the cute hippie girl who made out with me during the encore (that was more my moment)

Yes, i really enjoy primus. I rented one of their DVD's with a collection of music videos they made and was really impressed. I hope to find that dvd in the music store one of these days so i can buy a copy.

I love Primus, and Claypool is a god of bass-playing.

Frizzle Fry is my favorite of their albums. I also like Sailing the Seas of Cheese quite a bit. I didn't get into their later stuff quite as much but its all pretty good - and Claypool always amazes me.

Primus is ace.

Les Claypool is one hell of a bass player.

Hamburger Train is an ace song, and so is My Name Is Mud, and American Life.
