I like 38th Parellel (still need to see them in concert.. there very local) and some of DC Talks harder stuff (Jesus Freak/Supernatural and the like) and my youth ministry band, but most Christian Rock is far to soft for me.

Somewhere else I posted a list of my favourite music artists and some songs, and almost all of them were Christian (with the exception of a few soundtracks). But here goes again:

Mark Schultz
Larry Norman (from the 60s and 70s)
Newsboys
Michael W. Smith
dcTalk
Jaci Velasquez (did I spell that correctly?)
Avalon
MercyMe
Casting Crowns

and that one song that Mockingbird posted in the aspie song thread. :D

I have yet to find a Christian band that fits my tastes. Haven't searched much yet though.

Uh, does U2 count?

Oh, and Zwan was that short-lived band that Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin were in after the Smashing Pumpkins broke up, Zwan was arguably Christian rock

I forgot to add I also like Sarah Kelly. She's got a voice like Janis Joplin, however, it's Christian Music. I love it!!

Almost all of it Especially AMy Grant, Newsboys, Five Iron Frenzy, Scott Krippayne(who sings the song I put in the aspie songs thread) etc, etc. Amy Grant is my major obsession, as well. *obsesses*

:o 8O Billy Corgan was in a band that could even arguably be considered Christian? :?: :?: :?: :?

I don't listen to anything new. I've selected a few older Christian albums and everything else is secular. Christian music sucks now. It seems like they have run out of ideas. Considering that most the lyrics are often shallow and meaningless, and the music is made with a drum machine, I can't help but wonder if most of the songs are generated by an AI computer system at some music company's office somewhere.

Finally, someone to agree with. If only I knew what it used to sound like.

I don't know how far back you guys like to listen to, but Larry Norman and Steve Taylor were a few of the first CCM artists. You might want to check out some of their stuff. :)

The only Christian rock band I can think of was Stryper..... god they were funny...

I really hope it has improved, otherwise sadly the devil really does have all the best tunes.

In seriousness I don't listen to Christian rock for 2 reasons:

1) I'm not a Christian. But having said which Pagan rock tends to suck too (Inkubus Sukkubus? Noes..... 8O )
2) Its unlikely I would find much to my taste.

Also another problem is that it's all a little too bland or like Nu-Metal for my tatse.
