So, why should you care?

He was one of the pioneers of electronic music.

you say i should 'care' bc he did something,

to me i thought that everyone has to die even if they did something...

and then should we not care for those who have done nothing?

electronic music wont die with him

my former employer told me when maynard ferguson died, he added that so it was a bad day for him..

he acted a little funny when i didnt quite understand the logic.

why is death bad? he had to know it was coming...

its just the end of a story, just a necessary as the beginning

I'd love it if some people were inspired by his death to incorporate some classic Doctor Who-esque music into a rock band. That'd be sweet.

Uh, he didn't create the Doctor Who theme. That guy, Ron Grainer, died in 1980.

Excuse my ignorance but my mind is just awash with a soup of millions of names, I remember his from from somewhere and knew there was a connection to Dr. Who and Ealing comedies (I have lived in Ealing).

Actually it was composed by Ron Grainer and performed by electronic musician Delia Derbyshire (who died in 2001). They're both listed as the creators of the theme (because Granier composed it, and Derbyshire's electronic music realization is just as important as the composition). Read

It's sad that Cary died. I hate that all the pioneers of electronic music are dying now. Sigh. At least we still have Pierre Henry and Wendy Carlos.

Sorry, my mistake. I forgot about dear Delia Derbyshire. I heard that Grainer was so impressed with the way she created the music, that he offered her half the royalties.
