...couldn't you perhaps just ignore them? Publicly proclaiming your hatred for a style of music does nothing for these forums except offend people that do like that music. Remember that AS is not a common condition, so generally you will find a diverse variety of preferences among the aspie population when it comes to something like music. People you offend with cavalier proclamations might've been the ones who were otherwise ready to help you if you needed it elsewhere on WP.

I don't hate any particular style of music. What a weird idea. :?

While I don't enter forums for bands or genres I don't like to troll around and bash them (I hate it when people do that), I can't exactly ignore music I hate in real life, because I can't make myself deaf. XD If I hear hip-hop, for example, I'm instantly annoyed and can't focus on anything else.

I could never understand people who went to Youtube videos for no other reason than bashing a band or their music.

they're probably trolling/doing it for "s**ts and giggles". Or just because they have nothing to do. OR they accidentally saw the vid and started flaming...

I agree. I largely ignore most of today's music.

I think 'hate' is a bit strong word for me when it comes to music. I don't hold animosity towards any particular type of music because in the end, someone somewhere likes it, so I should respect that.

There are very few specific genres that I do particularily despise and to those that I offend because of it will be the intended target of any offense that I commit with regards to it.

The only genre I'd willingly hate would be hate music.

I like a couple of genres that get a bad rap on this site, but it doesn't bother me. People who loudly proclaim their hatred for those genres are usually talking about the modern radio pop version, not the music I like. I think it's reasonable to be angry about the state of modern radio music. In every genre, the radio version is getting worse and it's getting harder to track down the good stuff.

Frustration => Anger => Hatred

I was telling my daughter last week that there was one time when the radios played longer songs.

Then things started changing and a band/performer wouldn't get airtime unless they started writing specifically for the radio and short playtimes.

Having said that, though, I'm not wishing every song would be 10 minutes long... or even 8 minutes long... of course there's Alice's Restaurant... the Woodstock version which is over 20 minutes long! :D

I am in total agreement with you, up to a point, boy bands and bubblegum pop princesses, this stuff is not music.
