Should I start reading the 'Dosadi Experiment' or 'The Dragonbone Chair' first?

Another good choice would be Larry Niven's Ringworld.

I meant the book covers I posted. Those books. I'm getting 'The Dosadi Experiment' and 'The Dragonbone Chair' in the mail either tomorrow or possibly next week.

pat666rick I say go with the Frank Herbert book, he is an excellent writer. Of course in the SciFi/Fantasy genres there are many great authors. At some point down the road you should check out some of Orson Scott Card's work, he is very good.

I'd agree with starting with the Frank Herbert book. He is a true master of the art. The Dosadi Expirment is one of his real treasures that gets overlooked because of his Dune Series. The DragonBone chair while a good work of fiction is not in the same league.

And as for Orson Scott Card, he writes some good stuff and it is almost always fun to read but I would never place him in the same level as Herbert or many others.

Cyberiad by Stanislaus Lem

One of the funniest but most profound books I've ever read.

You can't go wrong with Neil Gaiman.

Although I enjoy Niel Gaiman as a writer I would place him more in the realm of fantasy than science fiction.
