I know a lot of people could laundry-list this one but I wouldn't mind at least mentioning who's voices I really like in the music industry or who I can get into when I hear em on the radio or cd. Thanks for the idea hadapurpura :). I'm not saying they all have to have stunning operatic voices or great metal growls, you might just like em for their lyrical content or what kind of vibe and energy they bring to the table.
Here's my list, mostly sorted from most to least relatable genres:

Maynard James Keenan - Tool
Peter Steel (sp?) - Type O Negative
Chester - Linkin Park
Lane Staley - Alice In Chains
Al Jourgenson (especially under LOTS of water-flange) - Ministry
Mike Patton - Faith No More/Mr. Bungle/ Dillinger Escape
Plan/Alkaline Trio, etc...
The old singer for I Mother Earth (don't know his name)
Fred Durst - Limp Bizkit
Chino Moreno - Def Tones
Ogre - Skinny Puppy
Maxi Jazz - Faithless
Dido/Sister Bliss - Faithless, solo-artist
Bjork
Sarah McLaughlin
Prodigy - Mobb Deep (for those who've never heard of Mobb Deep, grimey NYC hip-hop from 1995-99)
Havoc - Mobb Deep
Evidence - Dilated Peoples
B Real - Cypress Hill
Method Man - Wu Tang
Raekwon - Wu Tang
U-God - Wu Tang
Streetlife (don't know their names but I dug em on Method Man: Tical 2000)
Phonte - Little Brother
MC GQ (junglist MC, UK)
MC Skibadee (junglist MC, UK)
Tali (junglist MC, UK)
Rudebwoy (junglist MC, Toronto?)

I don't know names of many singers, so I'll just name bands for some.

Nightwish (not the guy, but the girl singer)
Depeche Mode
Cake
Linkin Park (the rapper and singer)
Steve Tyler...Aerosmith
Ludacris (I don't listen to him, but I like his voice)
Duran Duran
Amy Lee...Evanescence
Led Zeppelin
Pink Floyd
Annie Lennox
Marilyn Manson
Scooter (the female voice)
Ozzy Osbourne
Queen
RHCP
Styx
The Killers
Gwen Stefani... No Doubt

I find it amusing that I sing along to most of these artists. I need to start a band sooooooooo badly.

Edit: I don't have much music, but the voice of the singer of Louise Attack is good. I don't know what he's saying, but I like the sound of it.

Nick Drake
Bob Dylan
John Vanderslice - My signature is from one of his songs
Jackie Greene
Josh Rouse
Bjork
Tom Yorke
Will Oldham
Van Morrison
etc.

Maynard James Keenan!! ! YES, good choice!

If I could pick who I wanted to sing like, it would be him.

my favourite vocalist of all time is skin from skunk anansie (i don't know what her real name is). it's not just the fact that she's a black female singing to rock music that makes her voice so distinctive- it's the fact that she can go from angelic and soulful to fierce and aggressive in the fraction of a second.

another singer that i admire is kat bjelland from babes in toyland. although she doesn't have the professional vocal skills of skin from skunk anansie, her voice has lots of personality. in fact, her voice seems to have lots of personalities! in the space of one song her voice will change from high-pitched screams to a whispering child to a witch's cackle to sexy and seductive to a masculine shout!

my favourite male singer would probably be johnny rotten from the sex pistols- i love singing along to the 'pistols immitating his london accent! :D

Among people I've played Sigur Rós songs for, every single one has said some variation of "Wow, she's got a great voice." And the lead singer is a man. This guy makes Chris Martin of Coldplay sound like Barry White.

Pitchfork wrote:
... Siren Jón Thór Birgisson sings through every orifice-- including gills, perhaps-- creating the most inhuman vocals ever heard in rock (though Skywalker Sound could attempt a Chewbacca-esque approximation by blending whales, Jeremy Enigk, cherubs, Björk, and the blue alien from The Fifth Element). ...

Oh, and the lead singer of Isis sounds like an ANGRY BEAR.

no. :( they split-up after their third album. skin released a solo album but it was an r 'n' b album full of dreary love songs. her voice was still magnificent- but the songs were disappointing. i don't know if any of the others from skunk anansie have got new bands.

I used to despise her, but I have gotten used to Lisa Lopes, by the way.

Mellow, I like your taste in music also.

Oh, two people I forgot:

Jadakiss (only thing that annoys me is he overdoes that patented Jada wheeze)

MC Eksman (How could I have forgotten him? he'd like one of the best)

Of course...

I have to add a few more now that I think of it as well:

Q-Tip (A Tribe Called Quest)
Faith Evans (I was just listening to "1nce Again" with her doing the hooks over ATCQ and her voice just about made me drool :P )
