I only own two of their albums, Trout Mask Replica and Doc at the Radar station but they're both very, very good. So powerful yet quirky at the same time.

I have Trout Mask Replica, and I absolutely love it. Despite having this one for a few years now, I still need to get his other albums.

I've also got Trout Mask Replica - I'm a big fan of both Beefheart and Zappa. "Hot Rats" has an amazing calming effect on me.

His vocal style seems to be heavily influenced by
Howlin' Wolf. I remember TroutMaskReplica
having at least one song by him...maybe not as
a cover, but definitely a re-interpretation of some
sort.

I have Trout Mask Replica, Doc at the Radar Station, Ice Cream for Crow and Lick My Decals off, Baby. Tellingly, I think him and his troupe are fantastic. I've also seen the Magic Band live (if you breathed in at all that night, you'd have become passively high), and my two best friends also adore him, both being aspergic (sheer co-inky-dink).

Wow I would have loved to see the magic band live but that's not going to happen :(

It was great, but it was sans the now bedridden van Vliet—with a new singer. But still, what performers.

Trout Mask Replica is one of my favourite albums of all time. It's hard for me to look past that as far as his discography is concerned, I guess Mirror Man would be the one I'm most likely to play apart from TMR. I never got around to hearing his last three albums, though, and many people really like those.

Those three are really great albums.

Yes, yes and thrice yes.

Although I may have to confess to finding Trout Mask Replica rather difficult. My favourite Beefheart is where he's on the border of normality rather than totally over it.

Big Eyed Beans From Venus probably my favourite piece of music ever. Gimme Dat Harp Boy. Electricity. I'm Gonna Booglarize You. Moonlight On Vermont.

You know whats unique about Captain Beefheart? Beefheart is MAN music. No woman ever likes it and if she says she does, she's lying.

And having seen the same interviews of DVV, I've wondered if maybe he is AS too?? Probably not, but then he is most certainly not NT, either. He is him self in a world where most of us are empty and consist of nothing other than what others have put in us.

I think he definitely displays some

I agree that beefheart makes 'man' music, but I think he makes child music at the same time.

I call it Dinoysian music.
