What do you think would have happened if The X-Factor album with Blaze Bayley on vocals, got the reviews it deserved? I don't care what anyone says, its a very good album. If it had got good ratings would the next album have been any better? Cause the Virtual X album is dire, except for maybe 2 good songs. Would Blaze have stayed? Would he still be there? I mean, i'm glad things worked out the way they have, cause the last 3 albums since Bruce and Adrians return have been better than ever. I'm just curious!! !

I'm not really an Iron Maiden fan, but I'll agree that The X Factor wasn't that bad. Few people at the time of its release were willing to accept Blaze Bayley. If they were, it is possible that many people would have regarded it as a return to relevance after a couple of weak albums. I'm not sure how good or bad Virtual XI would have been.

I once saw a documentary about the history of metal on VH1. It talked about Iron Maiden for a bit and although it mentioned that their first lead singer was good for what the first 2 albums represented, it was necessary for them to replace him in order to make the next big jump in the band's career. I never heard any of the songs from Iron Maiden's first 2 albums, but I love the vocals for "Run to the Hills" and "The Number of the Beast".

yeah, and the past 2 albums were weak before that. Bruce sounded fed up on Fear of the dark, but his voice sounded better like that! He was to excited on vocals before that on some of the songs, made them sound a bit gay. I prefered Paul Di Anno, they were a super band back then, my favourite ever. But now Bruce is back, he's changed and I like him now more than before, he's on top form.

lol, I think Paul was better, made Maiden grittier! Bruce is a bit of an oprah singer at times. Here judge Paul at his best for yourself

Based on that song, I still think Bruce is the better singer. His voice is more audible, has more energy and portrays more feeling than Paul's voice does. Although I haven't listened to much Iron Maiden aside from "The Number of the Beast" album.

I did. My brother has a few albums on his Ipod and a few days ago he let me put them onto mine as well, including Powerslave. Now I also have Piece of Mind, Seventh Son of a Seventh Son, and Somewhere in Time.
