I'm sure we've all heard artists we generally don't like, but yet have some exceptions. List some songs from bands/artists you generally don't like/not a fan of but in the case of the particular song you do.

Here's some of mine:

Blink 182- Dammit (Growing Up)
Crazy Town- Drowning
N.E.R.D.- She Wants To Move

Good thread. This really got my head churning.

blink-182 - I Miss You
Mogwai - Mogwai Fear Satan
Something Corporate - Konstantine
Death Cab for Cutie - Transatlanticism/Passenger Seat (two songs, but they're treated as one on the album)
Pink Floyd - Wish You Were Here
Straylight Run - Slow Descent
Ministry - Burning Inside
Finch - Ender
Modest Mouse - Float On (I feel like such a radio-whore for this)
Peter Gabriel - Solsbury Hill
The Smiths - Asleep

Avril Lavigne-Nobody's Home ((The video made me tear up; usually her songs leave little to no impression))
Bittersweet Symphony- the Verve

All I can think of for now, unless one-hit wonders count.

Two guilty pleasures from the teen-pop world:

Hilary Duff, "Come Clean". Every other song I've heard by her is typical bubblegum pop, but this track actually has some interesting chord progressions and stuff. If I remember a discussion on WrongPlanet's chat room a while back, I'm not alone on this one.

Britney Spears, "Toxic". Can't stand the singer (who's not all too good of a singer, either, but that's another digression entirely), but the production on that one is well beyond typical pop junk.

Does everyone relate to lyrics, and do the emotions the music evokes correspond to them?
I ask because I came across a Neil Young album from the dim and distant called "After the Goldrush". I can't work out if it is meant to be comic or not. In particular "Oh, Lonesome me." has me falling about. I often find that what I get from music and art in general is not what most others get.

I don't "like" it but it's tolerable to listen to/catchy. I'm rather ashamed to say I could sing along with quite a few of the BSB's old stuff and that song as well. Which is not to say I like them as a group, but there you have it... I know the words. And have done a parody to at least one, come to think of it; and the original song had a decent video. Since the parody itself is relevant to this sit a little bit, what they heck, I'll share (I'm SO bored) (and BTW there's one kinda sick little thing in there but not mature language, if I need to delete it I will):

Show me the meaning of being crazy…

So many things in the DSM
It's hard to choose only one syndrome
They're comorbid
Tell me all your issues
Blots of ink so soon become
Naked chicks who look like your mom
Your every thought is slightly wrong
I tell you

[Chorus]
Show me the meaning of being crazy
Are these the issues you need to work on
Tell me why you think that you were referred
Or do you think that it's absurd

Life was hard for you as a kid
Tell me all that your parents did
You never may get over all your problems
Many roads to your mental health (mental health)
There's no control,
Are you with me now?
Your every thought is slightly wrong
I tell you

[Chorus]

There's nowhere to run
You have no place to go
Surrender your heart body and soul
In therapy
Depend on me
To guess the things I think you show

You are acting quite absurd
That is why I feel that you were referred

[Chorus]

I like the Alien Antfarm version of "Smooth Criminal". I can't stand the thought of it being written by Michael Jackson though.

As he came into the window
It was the sound of
A crescendo
He came into her apartment
Left the bloodstains on
The carpet
She was sitting at the table
He could see she was unable
So she ran into the bedroom
She was struck down,it was
Her doom

Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie

Annie are you ok
Would you tell us that you're ok
There's a sign in the window
That he struck you- a crescendo Annie
He came into your apartment
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
Then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom

Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok Annie
You've been hit by
You've been struck by
A smooth criminal

So he came in though the outway
It was sunday- but a black day
Mouth to mouth resus-
Citation
Sounding heartbeats
Intimidation

Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie
Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok,Annie

Annie are you ok
Would you tell us that you're ok
There's a sign in the window
That he struck you- a crescendo Annie
He came into your apartment
Left the bloodstains on the carpet
And then you ran into the bedroom
You were struck down
It was your doom

Annie are you ok
Are you ok
Are you ok Annie
You've been hit by
You've been struck by-
A smooth criminal

Aaow!
(Annie are you ok)
I don't know!
(Would you tell us,that you're ok)
I don't know!
(There's a sign in the window)
I don't know!
(That he struck you- a crescendo,Annie)
I don't know!
(He came into your apartment)
I don't know!
(Left the bloodstains on the carpet)
I don't know!!
(Then you ran into the bedroom)
I don't know!

Annie are you ok

Oh god, Papa Roach, I don't hate their music, but I do hate the band themselves.... They seem like the same type of people as those cool kids who beat me up at school (even though I've read an interview saying they were bullied at school, I think they're lying to cover it up)... Frauds. :x
