I've listened to some previews of the new songs, and I'm pleasantly surprised. It's like they're coming out of their slump and finally doing it right again.

great photo

Their new album is great!.. I was pleasantly surprised.. but i knew Rick Rubin would play a good role as producer. Ive heard the album twice now, and it is quite good.. its the kind of album that grows on you, and it is similar to And Justice For All..

I disagree.

For one thing, Justice sounded like s**t because of their 'prank' on Jason. Morons.

No, I've been complaining since a week ago when I first heard this song. I've been defending them since 2003.

Not to mention the drums going clickety clickety click.

But yeah, I totally agree with you, they sold out. They should never, EVER have tried anything different or even attempted to expand their horizons. That's why I still wear diapers, people keep telling me "Dude, learn to use the toilet, you smell really bad." But I tell them "F*CK YOU MAN, I'm sticking to my roots!"

HAHA  good s**t :lmao:

I will complain that there is massive clipping in the new CD.. :? whyy?.. this is horrible. almost all new albums have such clipping to make it seem louder. It works, but damn.. if you're like me and produce music you can tell the difference between clipped and non-clipped and suddenly clipped sounds irritating

If you chumps paid attention, you'd see I said I've been defending them since 2003, up to today.

They've sold out NOW, because all the years of squandered credibility and fans bitching and moaning about selling out has made them go 'f**k it, let's just do riffs and wah wah solos for eight minutes again.'

It's been done. The reason I say they've sold out now rather than ten or fifteen or five years ago is because people don't like them any more, their alleged fans couldn't handle their new directions, and so they've pussied out and gone back to the old s**t.

On 'The Day That Never Comes' I half expect James to sing 'I have lost the will to live, simply nothing more to gi- oh s**t, wrong song...'

My favourite Metallica album is S+M. And I think that between the Loads, you have enough songs to make an individual album better than any of their 1980s records.

I have been defending Metallica against sellout accusations in the face of the Napster s**t (which, by the way, they were totally in the right on, legally) and even St. Anger. And it's this crass attempt to recapture fans from twenty years ago which finally makes me say 'sellout.'

So, think twice before you try to judge me, eh? I can count on one hand the number of bands I think are sellouts becuase I think the phrase is ridiculous in 99.9% of contexts. I can't even remember what the other bands are that I think sold out.

If they haven't done it, Celine Dion albums would sound louder

So at this point they're damned if they do and they're damned if they don't.

What makes you so sure they've "pussied out" and were responding to pressure rather than just going where they wanted to, even if that might coincidentally be the return to an older style the way some of their fanbase might have wanted it?

And more importantly, who cares whether they've sold out or not? If you don't like the sound of their new record, there are a million other bands in the world for you to try out. Metallica doesn't owe you anything.

whatever man, callng any band or artist a sellout because of the music they produce is lame.. selling out has nothing to do with the music they write.. have you ever wrote a song?.. do you know how hard it is to write a song with nothing but money on your mind? I agree that they've copied their past to a small degree, but the album is great, and it can stand on its own.. people dont know when to quit bithing about them..

selling out is about letting a commercial rape your music for money.. Metallica is one of the only bands NOT to sellout.. unles you mean every seat in the house.. or selling lots of merchandise

Yeah, once again, I have only been bitching about them for about a week having defended them for half a decade.

And, as previously advised, I have decided to stop giving a s**t. I'm not a big Metallica fan anyway, I mostly listen the 1990s stuff, and even then not often.

And for what it's worth, yes, I've written rather a lot of songs. And selling out isn't anything to do with writing songs about money anyway.

Though some great songs have been written about money!
