Read It Swap It is a UK book swapping website. Does anyone use this?

http://www.readitswapit.co.uk/TheLibrary.aspx

I have participated in schemes like Book Crossing before (where a person deposits a book in a public place with an identifying number on it, and the finder gets to keep the book, registering the identifying number written in it on the Book Crossing website) but a distinct lack of users in England stopped it being a successful hobby. This is different; it operates more like eBay or Amazon, except that it is free.

The website explains in better detail, but briefly the premise is this:
1 List all the books you are willing to swap.
2 People look through your list and see if you have anything they would like to read.
3 They contact you through the website, and you then browse their lists.
4a If there is nothing of interest, you decline their offer to swap.
4b If you see a book you like, confirm that you would like to swap.
5 Post your books to each other.
It also works in reverse, whereby you can contact others through the website and they accept or decline your offers to swap.

It is quite a simple format. Choice is limited to what users list. But for someone who enjoys reading and is on a low income it is a nice alternative to buying second hand books with money.

Thanks for the tip - I had not heard of this site and will list some of my old books tomorrow. I'm guilty of buying too many books over the past few years and the house is starting to fill up with sci-fi novels so will be good to send some to good homes and get some new reading material :)
